End of an era for Home Furnishings, Station Road
Many residents were sorry to learn that Home Furnishings was to close in February when Richard Ganner retired. The business provided a total and professional service for all aspects of furnishings including: sales of furniture, carpets, design and fitting of curtains. They were one of the few firms able to carry out specialist repairs and expert restorations to antique furniture. The business was founded nearly 60 years ago by Bill and Kathleen Ganner and was then carried on by his son Richard and his wife Fiona.  We felt it appropriate to mark the occasion by presenting Richard with a framed Certificate of Appreciation of half a century of valued service to the community of Albrighton. This business will be sorely missed but we wish them a happy retirement.

Albrighton Station and Rail Services
You will have seen that West Midland Trains (WMT) had issued a questionnaire concerning the station and access to it and we understand that about 200 responses were received by them. WMT will now hold a consultation in the form of a ‘workshop’ for all residents and more information about this and the date will be known shortly. It will be important for residents come and make their views known to WMT. Unfortunately this local consultation is taking place only after their new parking arrangements were implemented.

Spring on the way
Many residents have commented that they are once again enjoying the early spring show of Snowdrops, Daffodils and Crocuses around the village, most of which were planted by Civic Society volunteers. Don’t miss the ‘crocus heart’ on the village green.
